The Vistoso Cyclists Bicycling Club is a chartered Sun City Oro Valley club with membership in excess of 200 members. The Club started over 25 years ago, and quickly became a premier cycling club for seniors. Our rides are destination-based, and we ride to more than 20 local cafes on a regular basis. Ride lengths are up to the riders and commonly range from 20 to 60 miles, utilizing both multi-use pathways and streets. There could be half a dozen route possibilities for a single destination and routes are changed up for variety. There are also longer ride options for stronger club riders with good group riding skills.
We encourage and welcome all levels of riders and our cafe stops en route are great opportunities for relaxation and camaraderie. Our website has an outstanding member only side, which features our ride schedules, example routes, member classifieds and more.
Rides occur year round and morning start times vary by the month. Most rides take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (open to any and all club members), with Tuesday and Friday ride days for the Club’s Women on Wheels (WOW) group, and the Club’s mountain biking crew, the Rough Riders, hits the trail on most Wednesdays. WOW rides typically span from 12 to 40 miles, and mountain bikers can join the Rough Riders for trail rides between 15 and 25 miles, on some of the highest rated single track in the nation.
In addition to cycling, the Club hosts social events, and supports three outstanding local causes: El Grupo, Wheels for Kids, and the Interfaith Community Services (ICS) Food Bank. This year's El Tour de Food Bank raised over $36,205 bringing the 10 year total to $323,200!
